Recently, Mr. Gu from a power plant in Jiangsu, not far from Yunhu Coatings, has been worried. Why? It turns out the steam turbine requires major maintenance, and he wants to apply high-temperature-resistant paint for renewed corrosion protection. But is colored high-temperature-resistant paint even available? And how should the repair be properly coordinated?
After a detailed discussion with Mr. Gu, Yunhu Coatings concluded: it’s not difficult at all. Why do we say that?
First, since Mr. Gu has specific requirements for the color of the high-temperature topcoat, these must be met. After consulting the technical department, Yunhu Coatings confirmed that a 200°C‑resistant high-temperature paint can fully satisfy both his color preferences and temperature resistance needs—no problem.
Secondly, regarding the coating system, the previous anti-corrosion paint used at Mr. Gu’s plant could not withstand the surface temperatures of the steam turbine, leading to rusting and peeling over time. Yunhu Coatings recommends pairing an inorganic zinc‑rich primer with the high-temperature paint. The inorganic zinc‑rich primer’s 400°C temperature resistance can easily handle Mr. Gu’s situation and offers excellent compatibility with the high-temperature paint.
However, Yunhu Coatings also offered Mr. Gu a small note: although the inorganic zinc‑rich primer and the high-temperature paint can effectively address his current issue, because this is a second‑time repair, the removal of the old paint film and substrate preparation must meet Sa2.5 or higher standards, as the inorganic zinc‑rich primer places very strict demands on substrate treatment.
Three parts paint, seven parts application—good anti-corrosion coatings still require proper surface preparation to achieve their full potential.
